It’s a bird, it’s a plane….no wait, that’s your dog Boscoe in a Superman costume. Yes, we love Halloween, and what’s even more fun than dressing up in a great costume to win first place in the local contest? I’ll tell you, it’s dressing up your Labrador retriever to look like a vampire, or painting the caot of your dog pink, spiking up its fur and making him look like a punk rocker.
Every year thousands of dollars are spent to make our pets look like vampires, witches, football players, skunks, jailbirds, and even dogzilla dinosaur(my personal favorite). There are hundreds of websites online that sell Halloween pet costumes. Most prices range from about $15.00 for small dogs to around $40.00+ for large dogs. You can dress your chihuahua like a tiny little pirate complete with sword, or you can dress up your great dane to look like giant bumble bee. You can even have a costume custom made so that you and your pet can be a matching couple. You can have something fashioned so that you and your dog will win first prize every time.
Most Halloween costumes for pets are handmade. They can be found online by searching for “Halloween costumes for Dog”. You can also search eBay.com for used dog costumes. A lot of times you can pick up several different costumes for an inexpensive price. Then, if you go to a few different parties, your pet can have a different look every day.
Most dogs, though cute as can be, do not like to wear clothing or costumes, so it’s always a good idea to throw a tee shirt or other item of clothing on your dog, to see how they react. Before you spend money on a pet costume you’ll want to know if your dog is going to wear it or bare it.
